Bill Gates vs. Steve Jobs (Parts: 1 and 2)

Since yesterday an IT conference is being run in EEUU and for 2007 this event has two well known individuals in the IT World. A series of videos are being broadcasted in parts and here I leave you the first two parts of this stunning interview. Bill Gates and Steve Jobs face to face discussing about the past, the present and the comming years in the IT market and their companies. The interview is leaded by Walt Mossberg and Kara Swisher.

The first video is about the early years of Microsoft and Apple whereas the second one is pretty much about Steve’s back to Apple and the shrot alliance with Microsoft. There quite a few funny parts in both videos where Bill and Steve send each other indirect messages. :)

Enjoy them :)

I’ll be posting the next parts in the following weeks.

Going for a picnic

This is a quick post

Yesterday I got a call from Pedro, a peruvian in Melbourne, inviting me to a picnic today (in 2 hourse :p). Some peruvians and venezuelans will be also there. This is enough reason to do a quick break in the last weeks of studies which are getting tougher and tougher but anyway… this is going to be something memorable hence there’s no reason to say I can’t make it.

I’m just getting ready to go. Because it’s a sunny day I’ll take my bike with me after ages of keeping it stored, hopefully I will have to removfe some spider’s web on it only… the meeting point is not so far from home and I really need to do some exercise so here we go!!.

I’ll tell ya later how was this it… cya then

update:

I’m back at home after a great afternoon with some peruvians, venezuelans and a couple of colombians… the peruvian group was the majority haha. As planned, I rode my bike till Pedro’s house, it took me around 15 minutes only however I didn’t expect to climb a fairly sloping hill before to reach Caulfield North park. Any way, once there Pedro introduced me to his lovely family and his house which just faces a huge park where we had the actual BBQ. After a while, the other guys turned up and together we headed the picnic area. This was so cool, in this kind of places you don’t need to bring your BBQ stuff but just the food. You don’t even need to have candles or ligher to make the fire. Those areas have all you might need to make your meals, and about the fire, coal, etc… nah! just press a little button underneath the pre-made grill and that’s it… all free and provided by the government (actually the local council). Unfortunatelly, I didn’t take any photo of this meeting but this is how a grill like the used might look like. I found this photo in someone else’s page.

We really spent a good time talking about everything from peruvian and venezuelan soccer until the fact I was the one with more months living in Melbourne in the group, most of the guys have only some months here. To sum up, we had fun there with a stunning weather which only lasted until 3pm when the wind came and push us to leave the place hahaha. Thanks all you guys and I’m looking forward to catching up with you again soon.

Peru @ MX, again

It’s been so long since MX, one of the Melbournian tabloids, posted an article about Peru. Actually this isn’t an article in itself but a commented photo… anyway I found it today when I was heading home in St. Kilda’s train. MX use to publish sensacionalist shots form all over the world. The topic doesn’t matter and in fact, sometimes there isn’t one. The photo is about how in the Rebaliati Hospital is been run a serie of excercises for future moms. If you keep reding this site, you’ll be notcing there are no relation with the previous peruvian article which was about the non-usual frog soups, very popular in some areas like Tarapoco and San Martin. This is the nature of MX, whatever wierd story or lavish photo is always a nominee.

A pathological week, I’m back though!

Cuz I’m getting some non-Spanish speakers visitors from now I’ll be posting quite often in English as well :) . These are definitely good news for some of my friends who always wonder about the content of this site and those expressions with echo like “locaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaazooooooo” or “moooooooostro”. It will also allow other people to figure out what the @#$% is a kangaroo sign doing in the middle of this site’s logo LOL!… anyway, I’ll tell more about the wired Latin behavior other day. In the last 4 days I’ve experienced a different sensation that I had already forgotten…. scientist call it “category 5 influenza pandemic” but we all non-medical savvy call it flu.

I’d start saying that it wasn’t my fault and some virus suddenly came into my body to cause a complete internal earthquake, however I’ll be honest with myself and fair with the level of purity of the Aussie sky so the truth is that I made a couple of stupid things. Usually, I don’t talk about what I do wrong however in this case I’m back to the well being world hence I does worth to talk about it in order to learn about what I should’ve done and what other can do in this case.

Last Saturday one of my friends had her engagement party (I’ll post photos later) and of course I went wearing a quite formal suit. I didn’t have shoes so I had to buy a couple but that’s other story. The thing is the party was outdoor event and in the middle of the ceremony it drizzled. That means that we had to decide between getting wet and eating cuz the food was just under a non-covered area. Obviously once you’re there you don’t care about some drops but we should’ve been more aware about the consequences of that particular scenario. There are more things that contributed that night but I’ll jump to the next cause and which I guess was that detonator.

The next day, it was around 11pm and I was at home doing some stuff for uni when I lost my internet connection. For whose don’t know… officially I haven’t got Internet at home but for some reason somehow sometimes a lost an foreign wireless signal turns up which allows me to get into the cyberworld with a low ratio of signal stability. That makes me feel angry hahaha well just uncomortable so after some research about the wireless scope and reading about radio frequency I found that if I bring the laptop to the window in my bedroom, open the window and use the laptop close to it I can get slightly better signal. This could be a non-sense option for many but it does have sense specially if you’re updating and testing the new interface of your personal weblog. Most of you must be laughing right now and wondering why I don’t get a proper internet connection; I’ll discuss this in other post, though.

When I did approach the laptop and opened the windows that night it was freezing outside and I felt like a slap of cold air. After few minutes I closed the window and went to sleep. Fair enogh, the slap kept with me a carried me to the worst sensation of sickness I had ever felt in this country. As a consquence, I went work next day feeling unwell and I looked like a zombie when I came back home. That day (Monday) I was absent at uni and slept from 6pm (Mon) to 7am(Tue). The next day (TUE) I thought I’d be better or at least less worse but I was wrong, In fact I had a mix of running nose, disconfort and I kept sneezing most of the day… which is worst, those symptoms could become to be something more serious… fever!. So I just decided not going uni next day and stay at home with heaps of hot tea cups next to my bed.

That really made the difference (and the pills as well) and brought me back to the world of normal people living their lives without concerning about toilet paper in their bags, just-in-case pills  and running to the toilet every 2 minutes. Thursday (yesterday) was my welcome-back-to-the-world day I went uni for my night class. I missed 3 sessions of 3 hours each in total. I haven’t checked how much in dollars that does mean considering my tuition fee, however it’d be better not doing so.

Now Friday, 4.52pm, doing my assignment for next Monday where I’ll be presenting a case of Information Warfare and Counterintelligence I feel 99% recovered of that crisis that reminded me how is like to feel when your body doesn’t work as you’d wish (besides when you’re drunk of course). I don’t pretend going back to that stage so I’ll be more forehanded from now.

Here some figures:

Money Spent: Not much, like 30 bucks between (pills and toilet paper packages)

Days out: Officially 3

What I leant: Besides the bad feeling of being ill, I realised that being at home the whole day is soooooooooooo boring!. I actually could’ve opened the window again to check out if there was any wireless signal available but…………..
