MaestrÃa, segundo semestre…ahora si!
A ver, como les comenté en el post anterior el primer ciclo ha pasado bastante rápido y ahora con más experiencia y conociendo mejor el sistema educativo las cosas se ven mucho más fáciles y manejables. Como también comenté en último post en inglés, tuve una pequeña sorpresa por un curso en el cual pensaba tener mejor resultado del que finalmente tuve y como estuve trabajando a tiempo no me dio el tiempo para organizar una cita con la facultad para reclamar, en fin, no es tan malo, después de todo sali bien en todo.
A ver en este segundo ciclo estaré llevando los siguientes cursos.
- IT Strategy
- Managing Networked Enterprises
- Business Systems Management
- Decision Suppor Systems
Si bien es cierto los tÃtulos dan la idea de cursos técnicos sólo el último tiene algo de laboratorio con computadoras en mano, el resto son cusos en donde debates, analysis e investigación son el curso a seguir. En uno de los trabajos para B.S.M por ejemplo tenemos que elegir un negocio y entrevistar a un miembro clave de la empresa acerca de su impresión sobre el crecimiento y perspectivas futuras en su área de trabajo y en general de la compañÃa. Este es un trabajo grupal y por ahi se me han cruzado por la cabeza buenas empresas donde podemos sacar buena información. Definitivamente estoy mejor parado y se que hacer las cosas y cuando asà que se supone que todo irá bien.
Les cuento que estos cursos no van para nada con los cursos que pensaba llevar hace 3 semanas. Por un descuido mio dejé pasar unos dÃas desde que la matrÃcula se abrió para alumnos de post-grado y los curosos que inicialmente pensaba llevar estaban ya llenos. Y conforme iba agregando otros empezaban los cruces de horario asà que tuve que empezar de nuevo. Básicamente estoy llevando los cursos que pensaba llevar más adelante. Esto no afecta en nada el aprendizaje ya que en este programa no hay secuencia alguna o currÃcula como en la UPC donde tenÃamos que seguir una estructura académica. Por el contrario, lo único que hay que cunplir son algunos cursos obligatorios sin ningún orden en especial y el resto son electivos los cuales son varios y uno puede hasta elegir electivos fuera de su facultad. Eso precisamente pienso hacer el próximo ciclo. Llevar un curso que me llamó la atención del MBA program relacionado con entrepreneurship o espÃritu empresarial.
Ah si, entre los cursos ofrecidos habÃan algunos que me llamaron la atención pero eran dictados los sábados de 9 a 5pm. Estos son electivos también. Me miré al espejo y dije… nahh sábado no, fin de semana sagrado, además ponÃa en riesgo los paseos con el club de aventura de RMIT asà que opté por otros electivos cheveres que son ofrecidos durante dÃas de semana.
Listo, eso es todo acerca de la maestrÃa. Este ciclo parece que será bastante exigente también pero el conocer cómo funciona esto ayuda bastante a la hora de organizar tu tiempo.

Un poco sobre estos dÃas
Esto más le interesará al público latino por lo que lo haré en Español. Les confieso que este post empezó con el tÃtulo “Segundo semestre de la MaestrÃa” y decidà empezar contando un poco lo vivido estos dÃas pero la narración se hizo tan larga que tuve que cambiarlo y dedicaré el siguiente a la maestrÃa. A continuación el texto original para que vean como me fui por las ramas pero con informació tal vez interesnte para muchos asà que aca lo tienen intacto.Â
Hace una semana empecé el segundo semestre de la maestrÃa, si! segundo ya de tres. Debo confesar que el primero ha pasado volando y las vacaciones entre el 1ro y el 2do ni las sentà jajaja. Luego del paseo a Falls Creek no pude hacer todo lo planeado pero igual la pase bastante tranquilo. La búsqueda de jato ha empezado de nuevo…. esto parece ser un estigma en mi estadÃa pero ahora lo tomo con mucha más calma y hasta me parece chevere porque uno aprende bastante acerca de cómo vive la gente y no sólo me refiero a Australianos sino a migrantes y cómo se adaptan a la sociedad o adaptan las bondades de la sociedad a su propia cultura la cual preservan como por ejemplo el idioma hablado en casa, las pinturas, decoración, idioma en los canales de televisión, revistas,etc. Se que estoy equivocado pero aún me parece un poco incoherente que la gente trate de traer toda su vida a un paÃs que no es el suyo pero cada vez que lo pienso veo que mi situación y punto de vista es muy diferente al de ellos. Ellos piensan vivir de por vida acá por lo tanto de alguna manera desean conservar sus costumbres mientras que yo aun no se que haré y bueno, dado que estoy en Australia trato de no imponer mis costumbres tanto que digamos cosa que uno aprende más de la cultura local y esas cosas. En verdad esto no es tan dificil porque no hay mucho latino por acá, no hay Inca Kola como la conocemos, no hay restaurantes peruanos, no hay sublimes, etc. Después de mucho tiempo conocà a una hipana parlante en en el ascensor de la universidad. Era miembro del staff de RMIT y es Salvadoreña, fue un hola y adios pero fue, al fin y al cabo, contacto latino.
El viernes pasado en el trabajo me pasaron el dato para ir a ver el partido de Footy (Football Australiano, ojo no soccer. Acá la descripción de Footy ) entre St. Kilda (mi equipo… go! saints!) y Hawthorn en el Telstra Dome asà que el Sábado pasado fuimos y pucha que chevere. En verdad es la 2da. vez que voy y como que la tercera será muy pronto 
. La pasamos muy chevere entre el bar y la zona alta. La gente apoyando equipos opuestos mezclada en la misma tribuna cada uno en lo suyo y hasta mandandose indirectas a gritos y terminandola con un cheers con chela en la mano. En este juego no hay malla entre la tribuna y el mismo juego. En verdad uno podria meterse a la cancha pero como que no tiene sentido porque te sacarÃan del estadio y los demás te apabullarÃan, la cultura es muy respetuosa en ese sentido ah y por otro lado. En algunos momentos el chongo y la diversión es más grande en las tribunas que en el mismo campo. No hay barra brava por llamarlo de alguna manera pero la barra es muy activa y se extiende en todas las tribunas del estadio. La policÃa de rato en rato pasa por detrás chequeando que todo está en orden y si ven algo que podrÃa convertirse en pelea escoltan a los involucrados hacia fuera del estadio asi que seguridad hay y la diversión está más que garantizada.
Bueno ahora si pasemos al tema de la maestrÃa no? jaja

I’m back…yeah!
I’m back
I know I’ve been away for a while since my last post and that’s because a mix of new things and quick weeks of holidays. Resuming a bit my mid-year holidays(and just about things that can be published), after Falls Creek I had to stay without moving so much for two weeks while I got healed from the bloody blisters… yeah it was like a two-week pain but not literally because it didn’t hurt really after two days but because you cannot walk properly. You’re suppose to have as much rest as possible and leave the area (the heels in my case) as fresh as possible. Well, I just couldn’t do much about it because I was working full-time and from 8am-5pm those areas were covered by a dodgy band I got from the nearest chemist. Anyway, this lasted two weeks as I mentioned and of course I missed the second trip I had already applied. It was a hiking trip to The Grampians, a mountain chain near Melbourne with wonderful sights and vast nature.
Now, on the other hand, other good news happened like:Â Got my results and I as I expected they were quite good except from one subject which actually was on my best subjects in which the Lecturer for some reason (well I ‘ve got clue of what happened there) marked me lower than I expected. The final mark was still satisfactory but not as I said not as high as I though it was going to be. Actually in these cases we are allowed to claim for the mark and have an interview with the actual lecturer to discuss the mark. Again, my problem was the time avalable to do this.
Working full time especially not in the CBD (City centre or downtown) is sometimes inconvenient but I’m not complaining at all. I’m quite happy with the job so far. Just one of those things you miss when you work. Anyway, I wasn’t able to ask for my marks and because I was already happy with the results so I just left it away.
Uhmmmm what else… Oh yes! This is a good one. My U.S. Visa expired two months ago so I applied again for a renewal. The process was actually straightforward and although the chunky guy (my friend) wasn’t in the main gate of the U.S consulate the guys was also kind. What surprised me was that the actual guy who I had the interview with was the one who I saw last year in the same process. I guess this speeded up the process because he immediately recognised me (weird!! lol) and asked me about uni and the masters course. In the meantime I gave him all the documentation usually required and that was all…. oh no! not all. In the end he said “We’d give you five-years U.S. Visa if you were resident here but because you’re holding student visa we’ll give one-year”… I said fair enough but inside “shit, almost! hahaha”.
That was the short journey in the U.S. consulate. Two days later I received my passport with the new U.S Visa…. now you must be wondering what for….
Well, it’s been more than 1.5 years since I left Peru and came to this side of the earth and I believe it’s time to have a quick visit to the family, friends and the wonders in my dear Peru so yes, I’m going back to Peru at the end of this year and bacause I haven’t been in the U.S. I’ll do a quick stop in Los Angeles (three days actually) so if you’ve been there tell me the places which are a must and those which you were disappointed to be in so I’ll have a better understanding of where to go. Last week I bought the flight tickets and are for the end of November. Actually I already sent some emails to my mates in Peru and some of them are interested in joining me in a trip to Machu Pichu…this trip is going to be awesome!… just can’t wait.

What else… what else… at work I practically I finished the development process of the Contract Management System and now I’m moving smoothly to the B.I. project related with Reporting Services 2005.
I also started to look for a new place to live. The thing is the current lease finishes this November and even though there is still some months to go, as I said before I’m heading Peru that month so I don’t want to be in a hurry looking for a place where to chuck my stuff out before a leave Aussie land which is worst, by that moment I’ll be in the middle of exams or finishing them and no point to loose concentration and time in a non-academic thing, not at that time so it’s pretty much clear, I gotta move out soon.
Apparently it’s going to be easier than my previous experiences. Actually I’m enjoying each inspection, that must be because I’ve got more experience and confidence in how to do this things… we’ll se where I ended up hahaha.
… pretty sure, I missed some things but I’ll post them as soon as they come back to my mind. Meanwhile, let me tell you that I started already the second semester of the Master… yeah!! but this deserves its own post so be patient.

Machu Picchu una de las nuevas maravillas del mundo, si se pudo!!
Estes es un post corto solo para celebrar con todos mis hermanos peruanos acá en Australia y por supuesto en Perú la incorporación de Machu Picchu como una de las nuevas 7 maravillas de este planeta. No hay palabras realmente para explicar la satisfacción, orgullo y alegrÃa que se siente pero este video si que muestra como muchos peruanos vivieron el momento.
