RMIT University, Semestre two is almost gone!!

Some guys at work complained because this blog is mainly in Spanish, so as I can’t have two blogs and as Google translator doesn’t work properly most of the times I’ll write this one in English and let’s see what sort of comments I get from people.

The title is pretty much self-descriptive and… yes!, it’s about one of the most exciting things just happened, the end of semestre. I still remember when it was my first week at RMIT University and I was kind of lost surrounded by completely new stuff. Even having studied English for some months last year, the environment at that time was completely different, firstly because of people… yeah! the group of guys I used to be with in a daily basis, the after-class chats and the after-luch time spent in the library talking about nothing. Apparently those days are over and now, while doing the Masters I catch up with now and then. Some of them went back to their countries (Colombia, Japan, Korea, Thailand, etc). Others are still studying, others working and others both (like me)…… uhmm anyway this is not the topic to discuss in this post so let’s move on.

This second semestre has been less complicated compared to the first one and personally I kind of enjoyed it. Dealing with work and study is never easy and I wish I could spend more time at uni but unfortunately I can’t so here we are. One good thing happened to me this semestre (academically speaking) was the absence of final exams….. woohoo!. Initially I was enrolled in four subjects with two exams, however because of a clush I dropped two of them and enrolled in two new ones. That was fine and I didn’t realise I didn’t have exams untill a work fellow asked me once about my timetable and I said “hang on, I’ll check my enrolment status” and that was when I came acrross with a blank page in the Exam’s timetable section… I just couldn’t believe it, I had no exams, it was perfect… well almost. I had once important assignment for one of the subjects, I.T. Strategy which actually I just finished so that’s why I’m writing this now .

Besides that one, I’ve had good lecturers and fairly interesting tutorial sessions along the semestre. The most boring one was DSS which was actually ok but I knew the stuff already, anyway that remainded me some non-I.T. stuff from my bachelors at U.P.C. in Peru. I really enjoying being part of Executive Lecturers we had in the subject called Business Systems Management. We gained good insight about how CIO, CEO and all these high level business people work and deal with issues like change, time and actually other people.

Now that the classes are over officially and the semestre is closing my mind is mainly focused in two big things, having fun the rest of the days until November 29th and the actual trip to Peru. If you’ve been following this blog (I hope u have otherwise scroll up and click on the link that says “The first chapters”. They are not actually chapters but posts but anyway that’s the idea.

I’m planning to post much more regularly from now (I’m serious this time) and really enjoy the time left here in Melbourne. The weather is getting likeable, but you know, it’s Melbourne so you never know what’s gonna happen in few days. Of course there are these forecast programs but if you live here you shouldn’t rely too much in them unless you watch the morning forecast which it’s more accurate.

Oh yes, I stil have the 2nd video of the iPod touch with all the cool features it has and some tunning I’ve made so keep checking this site if interested.

That’s pretty mucho for now I guess. Tomorrow Saturday is meant to be sunny so I probably take the bike and go out. Actually I also have to go uni to print out this assignment which, again, IT’S DONE!! . The “turn it in” page (a website which tells you whether you’ve been using proper referencing systems) showed me a quite good result so the paper is basically ready to be submited and with that I could say, the second semestre is officially over.
